SYNOPSIS
A major component of the Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2025, Africa Initiative III aims to deepen EU–Africa cooperation in research, innovation, and development.
Total budget: €500.5 million, spread across 24 targeted calls.
The program focuses on five priority areas namely; (i) Public Health, (ii) Green Transition, (iii) Innovation & Technology, (iv) Capacities for Science, and (v) Cross-cutting issues.

Development of antibodies for epidemic prevention
Climate justice and societal readiness pilots
Sustainable processing for battery-grade materials
AU–EU collaboration on renewable energy
Resilient coastal community solutions in the Atlantic
AU–EU Agricultural Knowledge & Innovation System (AKIS)
Agroecology living labs
Nutrition interventions in emergencies (e.g., RUTF/RUSF)
Open topics on disaster risk governance and resilience
